This cherished event offers a rich array of activities that cater to people of all ages and skill levels. \nTake part in the “Best Kite Contest\,” where all are welcome to showcase their creativity and flying prowess. Contestants can enter with either self-made or purchased kites\, with judging based on the kite’s appearance\, construction quality\, and the participant’s ability to keep it airborne for five consecutive minutes at a height of 100 feet. Judging criteria encompass flight (sustaining flight for five minutes)\, structural design\, craftsmanship\, and visual appeal\, with competitive divisions for Master\, Novice\, and Youth (ages 7-14)\, each earning trophies. \nParticipation in the Best Kite Contest is free and occurs daily. “Flight Training” sessions\, led by experienced kite enthusiasts\, will guide novice flyers in various aspects\, from equipment selection to kite launching\, flying techniques\, and safety measures. \nFamilies are encouraged to join kite-building workshops that include free materials and instructions. These workshops cover not only the art of crafting a kite but also delve into the aerodynamics of kite flying and safety precautions. \nExperience the expertise of American Kitefliers Association members from across the East Coast through captivating kite demonstrations\, routines set to music\, and the soaring presence of giant kites.
