This series brings fans together to revel in the magic of live music against the backdrop of the Atlantic oceanfront. \nSpanning a diverse range of musical genres\, the Oceanfront Concert Series caters to various tastes\, offering an eclectic lineup that resonates with music enthusiasts of all ages.  \nSeptember 25 \nGUSTER\nwith Mikaela Davis\n \nNot long before the making of their new album Ooh La La\, Guster celebrated three decades together as a band — a journey that’s included landing a series of hits on the Billboard charts\, working with luminaries like Steve Lillywhite and Richard Swift\, launching their own music festival\, and amassing an ardent fanbase partly on the strength of their relentless touring and deeply communal live show. But despite reaching a milestone few musical acts ever come close to attaining\, Guster’s ninth studio LP reveals a band fully in touch with the voracious creative energy that first inspired their formation. A major leap forward for lead vocalist Ryan Miller\, guitarist Adam Gardner\, drummer Brian Rosenworcel\, and multi-instrumentalist Luke Reynolds\, Ooh La La ultimately matches that wide-eyed spirit with a newly heightened sense of confidence\, conviction\, and commitment to the raw sincerity that’s made them so beloved. \nOoh La La endlessly radiates an undeniable warmth\, even as its songs delve into the more daunting aspects of living in modern times. “One of Josh’s great strengths is finding the heart of the song\, which felt right for the world we live in\,” says Rosenworcel. “When I listen back to the album now it feels like there’s depth everywhere — there’s not a moment where we strike a chord that isn’t meaningful to us. Nobody was going to accept a song that didn’t hit at a certain level\, and it feels good to still have that passion more than 30 years into our career.” \n“One thing we’ve continually done as a band is acknowledge what’s going on in our world but still bring some positivity to the music\,” says Gardner. “We’re always going to be real about what’s happening\, but we still want to leave people with a feeling of hope.” \nWhile their audience has grown exponentially since Guster got their start playing in dorm rooms at Tufts University in 1991\, they’ve sustained an extraordinarily strong connection with their fanbase over the years. “One of the main reasons we’re still a band is the fans who’ve come to see us for years\, the people who show us the tattoos they’ve gotten with our lyrics\,” Miller adds. “It inspires us to stay creative and stay fearless\, instead of just making the same record over and over. Everything we do is in service of that connection\, and at this point I’d say we’re definitely lifers.” \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

Made up of Ishmael Butler (“Butterfly”)\, Craig Irving (“Doodlebug”) and Mary Ann Vieira (“Ladybug Mecca”)\, the trio carved out a unique style of jazz-informed Hip Hop. Shortly after\, Digable Planets followed up with their debut album\, Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time And Space)\, an ambitious offering that Pitchfork praised as “a world within a world\, complete with its own language and monuments.” The group celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Reachin’ last year. \nDigable Planets immediately followed up with Blowout Comb\, a bold and colorful meditation on Black liberation. While the album did not initially reach the immediate commercial successes of Reachin’\, the album has aged beautifully\, influencing future generations of Hip Hop heads\, young jazz musicians and Afrofuturists. The trio spent the 2000s establishing their own individual creative voices with Butler’s Cherrywine and Shabazz Palaces projects\, Mecca’s work with BROOKZILL! and Irving as “Cee Knowledge” leading Cee Knowledge & The Cosmic Funk Orchestra. In 2015\, the group embarked upon a string of wildly successful live shows and has been very active as a tight touring unit ever since. In 2017\, they released Digable Planets Live\, a live album that showcases many gems from the group’s catalog as well as the trio’s skill at rocking the crowd with a live band. A pioneering act that continues to cast a wide-ranging\, genre-bending influence\, Digable Planets have left an indelible mark on music. More than 30 years after their debut\, their music still shines\, and the iconic group continues to bring their celebrated stage show to excited crowds around the world. \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

An emotional tribute to his father who’d encouraged him to audition for American Idol but passed away before he made it in front of the judges\, the performance instantly became a viral sensation. The quiet yet powerful maturity in this 18-year-old Samoan\, Tongan from Hawaii’s voice\, is unparalleled. An old soul\, his beautiful rasp\, with a light island influence permeates every note in every song he sings\, invariably taking listeners on an emotional journey. \nAlthough Iam himself is rarely serious\, preferring to approach life with a laugh and a joke\, his musical taste and styling shows a depth of range far beyond his years. In his current single\, “I’ll Be Seeing You”\, Iam gorgeously laments about the loss of his father. His formidable vocal ability brings a yearning to those moments when\, although you’ve lost someone\, you realize they are never truly gone; you see them everywhere you look. Iam said\, “This song is very beautiful\, and it resonates with me\, it means a lot to me. It is about my father and if you think about it\, this song talks about ‘I’ll be seeing you wherever I go’ because when a loved one passes away you are going to remember them in everyday life”. \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

John Ondrasik — the songwriter and performer known as the platinum-selling\, Grammy-nominated\, Five For Fighting — knows this well. In the two decades since his first major single\, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)\,” hit the stratosphere\, the artist has both evolved and come back ’round full circle. Creativity\, if nothing else\, is paradoxical. \nTo date\, Five For Fighting\, has released six studio LPs\, including the platinum certified America Town and The Battle for Everything; and the top-10 charting Two Lights\, along with an EP and live albums. Ondrasik has penned major hits\, including the chart-topping “100 Years\,” “The Riddle\,” “Chances\,” “World\,” and “Easy Tonight\,” which have earned tens of millions of streams and place him as a top-10 Hot Adult Contemporary artist for the 2000s. The reflective “100 Years” has joined “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” as part of the American Songbook and continues to stand the test of time at weddings\, birthdays\, graduations\, memorials\, and many a home video. Five For Fighting’s music has also been featured in more than 350 films\, television shows\, and commercials\, including the Oscar-winning The Blind Side\, Hawaii Five-O\, The Sopranos and the CBS drama\, Code Black. \nMost recently\, his song with the biggest sticking power is the powerful\, “Blood on My Hands\,” a protest song that takes a non-political\, moral stance against the 2021 United States chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. Ondrasik notes\, “There has been a tradition of musicians speaking truth to power. In the current tribal culture\, our freedom of expression has never been more critical.” \nThroughout his multi-decade career Ondrasik has been involved in multiple charity efforts. Along with supporting the troops via multiple USO tours\, Ondrasik created “The CD For the Troops” project with song and comedy compilations featuring artists like Billy Joel\, Melissa Ethridge\, Chris Rock\, and others\, gifting more than one million CDs to veterans and military families. John has also been deeply involved with the ALS charity “Augie’s Quest.” \nWhat motivates him musically now? He wants to promote dialogue. He’s set to speak his mind. In song\, with the piano. \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

When the current lineup of the band came together alongside Kantner as a unit in 2012\, with many members joining years before\, he couldn’t have imagined that the band would become the road-conquering heroes they’ve been in the last few years. \nJefferson Starship’s five members describe themselves as both a “family” and a “gang\,” and that comes across in talking to them\, and in their robust live performances\, which have taken them to all 50 U.S. states.\, five continents\, and too many countries to list here (a recent tour of New Zealand was mentioned among the band’s favorites)\, drawing from a massive setlist of hit after hit.  \nIn addition to original member David Freiberg\, the band includes drummer Donny Baldwin (whose Jefferson Starship roots go back to 1982)\, keyboardist Chris Smith (who joined in 1998)\, guitarist Jude Gold (who joined in 2012)\, and singer and guitarist Cathy Richardson who joined in 2008\, after Kantner saw her tour with Big Brother and the Holding Company. \nAs Jefferson Starship approaches their 50th anniversary\, the group’s members look to the future with the word Kantner\, who unfortunately died in 2016\, used to say to them all the time: “Onward.”  \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

Infectious energy is an understatement. The Maryland quartet — “Scrambled Greg” Ormont (vocals\, guitar)\, Jeremy Schon (guitar\, vocals)\, Ben (bass\, vocals)\, and Alex “Gator” Petropulos (drums\, vocals)—not only squeezes the juice out of every second\, but they harness life’s energy within their hypnotic hybrid of funk\, rock and psychedelic groove. \nWith a devout audience\, affectionately known as “The Flock\,” and a trail of sold-out tours behind them\, the band takes a major step forward once again on their seventh full-length offering\, Day In Time\, set to release on April 26\, 2024. “This album is a snapshot of our band as a group and as individuals\,” notes Greg. “The title serves as a reminder that life moves fast\, so we better make the most of each day\, make each second count. 15 years as a band have flown by. We started in college and now we’re all growing up\, most of us have even become dads recently\, so we’re evolving both personally and musically\, and we’re happily embracing those changes. That said\, we still feel like kids when we’re getting wild on stage and know we always will.” \nThis forward motion has only accelerated over the years for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Renowned as a live tour de force\, PPPP has tallied tens of millions of streams and performed to impassioned crowds everywhere from Red Rocks Amphitheatre and The Capitol Theatre to festivals such as Bonnaroo\, Electric Forest\, Jam Cruise\, and more. Most recently\, they earned widespread acclaim for 2022’s Perspective\, a 12-track “funk-filled odyssey” as described by Relix. However\, Day In Time saw them realize another level of cohesion in the studio. “This album is the most cohesive group of songs we’ve ever had in the studio\,” says Jeremy. “On our previous albums\, there were usually older songs mixed in with our newer material. However\, all the tracks on Day In Time really represent our current writing style and where we are as a band today.” \n“With this being our seventh full-length album\, we’re more comfortable in the studio than ever\, which has given us the freedom to take some bigger swings reminiscent of our live shows.” notes Greg. It’s a cinematic sound rooted not only in the Florida towns where the musicians first banded together as teenagers\, but also in the anthemic live show that’s taken flipturn from coast to coast. In the time since their formation\, flipturn has mushroomed to reaches far beyond the walls of the Fernandina Beach garage they first practiced in. Built up by Dillon Basse (lead vocals/rhythm guitar)\, Tristan Duncan (lead \nguitar)\, Madeline Jarman (bass)\, Mitch Fountain (synth)\, and Devon VonBalson (drums)\, the band has long prepared for the release of their debut album Shadowglow; a snapshot of a band caught halfway between youthful optimism and adult precision\, with songs that target the head as well as the heart. \nWith over 100 million streams on Spotify alone\, countless sold-out headline shows across the US\, and tours with Mt. Joy\, Rainbow Kitten Surprise\, and Wilderado\, the band has more than proven their place in the indie scene. \nThe Moss \n \nIn a musical landscape with fewer boundaries than ever before\, The Moss’s exuberant brand of alternative rock spans genres\, eras\, and even oceans. The Utah-via-Hawaii group was born on the shores of Oahu in 2015\, as teenage buddies Tyke James (vocals/guitar) and Addison Sharp (guitar) picked up a gig serenading diners at local taco trucks in between surf sessions. Naturally\, their songs took shape in the spirit of the island\, imbued with the joyfulness and breeziness of reggae culture yet cut with the introspection and communal spirit of mainland indie acts like Pinegrove and Cage the Elephant. \nBy 2018\, the duo had grown\, enlisting Willie Fowler on drums and Addison’s brother Brierton on bass\, and traded in beaches for the Great Salt Lake. They hit the stage at spots like local cornerstone Kilby Court\, live-testing their modern-indie-meets-’60s-blues with a wide-eyed exuberance that translated effortlessly into their 2019 self-released debut\, Bryology. The follow-up\, 2021’s Kentucky Derby\, brought a more aspirational\, blue-sky tilt to the foundation they’d laid on Bryology\, expanding the group’s sonic arsenal while keeping the relatable lyrical style and sun-soaked sentiment at the forefront. \nNo matter how listeners choose to interact with The Moss’s music\, the band just hopes they feel something. It’s that kinetic relationship between band and audience that makes their live performances so compelling. “No matter what we do\, we want to make sure the songs are fun to play live\,” says Fowler. “We pride ourselves on being a band people want to see live.” \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

\nJune 19 \nBURNING SPEAR\nwith Kabaka Pyramid\n \nBurning Spear’s impact on reggae music is profound. A true legend\, Spear’s legacy through his music is one of self-reliance and self-determination for the African diaspora. With a career spanning over six decades\, his message remains on point and his vocal delivery is as powerful as it is identifiable. \nWinston Rodney began his music career in the late 1960s\, attributing his start to a fateful encounter with Bob Marley. Both were living in the St. Ann’s parish of Jamaica. As Spear recalls\, “Bob was going to his farm. The man was moving with a donkey and some buckets and a fork\, and cutlass and plants. We just reason man-to-man and I say wherein I would like to get involved in the music business. And Bob say\, ‘All right\, just check Studio One.” It was there that Spear recorded his first two classic albums\, Burning Spear and Rocking Time. \nThroughout the 1970s and 1980s\, Burning Spear rocked the reggae world\, releasing acclaimed albums such as Social Living\, Hail H.I.M. and Resistance. His music evolved to incorporate elements of jazz\, funk\, and rock\, while maintaining its solid roots reggae foundation. \nBurning Spear has won two Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album.  In addition to his music career\, Burning Spear is a dedicated anti-racism activist and philanthropist. He has been involved in various social and political causes throughout his career\, including the fight against apartheid in South Africa\, the struggle for independence in Zimbabwe and his campaign to raise awareness of the teachings of Marcus Garvey. \nKabaka Pyramid \n \nKabaka Pyramid is a Grammy Award Winning conscious revolutionary lyricist with a signature musical style; blending the power\, energy and melody of Reggae with the lyricism of Hip hop. \nA key pillar of the Reggae Revival movement\, Kabaka Pyramid carved his way into the Jamaican reggae scene with Rebel Music in 2011 with marquee songs like “Free From Chains” and “Warrior” featuring Protoje. His hip hop roots were evident in the lyrical style and hard-hitting beats\, laying the foundation for an ever-ascending career highlighted by the classic marquee sophomore album The Kalling produced by role model Damian “Jr Gong” Marley. \nThis chart-topping artist has developed a solid global fan-base that connects deeply with the messages in his music\, touring extensively over the past 10 years at the largest of Reggae stages around the world and headlining numerous 20+ multi-city club tours. Kabaka is well known for delivering an electrifying and entertaining live performance. \nAfter touring with Damian Marley in the US in 2017\, Kabaka would team up with the son of Bob Marley for his debut album Kontraband\, debuting number 3 in the reggae Billboard chart and number one in several countries on iTunes. Hit song “Reggae Music” became Kabaka’s first song to pass 10 million views on YouTube. \nLive performances for Rolling Stones\, BBC radio 1xtra at Maida Vale and Tuff Gong Studios\, winning the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association’s Breakthrough artist of the year and being featured on Chase and Status and Rudimental’s albums are some of the highlights of a stellar career. \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, June 5 | 7 p.m.17th Street Park \nFREE and open to the public \n\n\n\n\n\n \nGet ready for hot summer nights with the Oceanfront Concert Series at Virginia Beach\, a free music extravaganza taking place in the parks along the iconic Virginia Beach Boardwalk. With three consecutive #1 singles in as many years\, they have more chart-toppers than any other group in country music. The group – comprised of brothers Matt Thomas (guitar/lead vocals) and Scott Thomas (drums)\, \nalong with their cousin Barry Knox (bass) and life-long friend Josh McSwain (guitar) – has accumulated more than 1 billion on-demand streams and four total No. 1 country radio singles. \nMost recently\, they topped the charts with “Girl In Mine\,” which was named Billboard \nMagazine’s 8th Most Played Country Song of 2023. That song was the follow-up to Billboard’s Most Played Country Song of 2022\, “Take My Name.” The band landed a multi-platinum smash in 2020 with “Just The Way\,” a collaboration with Blanco Brown. In September 2023\, Parmalee released For You 2\, an 18-song deluxe version of their 2021 album For You. \nThe band attributes their longevity to a decade spent playing together with no measurable success\, just the love of playing music for fans. They learned who each other truly was\, so they knew who they were standing beside when their dreams became reality in Nashville. The same is true when they go into the recording studio. The men trust their gut when choosing songs and are confident what will connect with their fan base. With determination as strong as it was when they first started playing together and 18 songs ready to release to the world\, Parmalee is poised to take the next steps in their sky-rocketing career. They have no regrets. “We just love to play\,” Josh said. “We love to tour. We love the live connection. Our dream was just to play music for a living. Anything more than that is a bonus.” \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas

SUMMARY:Oceanfront Concert Series: ACE FREHLEY
DESCRIPTION:ACE FREHLEYwith special guest Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos Wednesday\, August 16 | 7 pm17th Street ParkFREE and open to the public \n\n\n\nHere are a few things you probably know about Ace Frehley: He’s the original lead guitarist for KISS (which he co-founded in 1973). He was also their best—his song-within-the-song guitar solos are as much a part of KISS as the band’s seven-inch platform boots. And he’s always been the coolest member of KISS—rock ’n’ roll swagger\, laid-back\, mysterious—just ask Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine\, or Naoko Yamano of Shonen Knife\, or Abbath of Immortal. Hell\, even people who don’t like KISS still love Ace. \nWhat you may not know is that Ace Frehley has not been a member of KISS since 2002\, when he left his second tenure with the band (there’s a “spaceman” currently playing leads for the band\, but it ain’t Ace). In his time away from KISS (1983-1996\, and 2002-present)\, Frehley has put together the most successful solo career of any member—current or former. \n\n\n\nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas \n\n\n\nThank you to our Sponsors!

SUMMARY:Oceanfront Concert Series: SOCCER MOMMY
DESCRIPTION:SOCCER MOMMYwith special guest Angelica GarciaWednesday\, July 26 | 7 pm17th Street ParkFREE and open to the public \n\n\n\nSometimes\, Forever\, the immersive and compulsively replayable new Soccer Mommy full-length\, cements Sophie Allison’s status as one of the most gifted songwriters making rock music right now. Packed with clever nods to synth-filled subgenres like new wave and goth\, the album finds Sophie broadening the borders of her aesthetic without abandoning the unsparing lyricism and addictive melodies that make Soccer Mommy songs so easy to obsess over. Sometimes\, Forever is the 24-year-old’s boldest and most aesthetically adventurous work\, a mesmerizing collection that feels both informed by the past and explicitly of the moment. It’s a fresh peek into the mind of an artist who synthesizes everything — retro sounds\, personal tumult\, the relatable disorder of modern life — into original music that feels built to last a long time. Maybe even forever. \n\n\n\nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO!:Allowed:• Beach Blanket\, towel\, or beach chair (without a foot rest or canopy)• Small Cooler• Outside Food and Drink (no alcohol)• Re-entry with Hand Stamp• Strollers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nProhibited:• Alcohol• Open containers of any kind• Glass containers• Bicycles• Pets (except certified service animals)• Professional Camera/Video Equipment• Umbrellas \n\n\n\nThank you to our Sponsors!
