Event Details
From the days of playing greasy local juke joints to headlining major festivals, JJ Grey remains an unfettered, blissful performer, singing with a blue-collared spirit over the bone-deep grooves of his compositions. His presence before an audience is something startling and immediate, at times a funk rave-up, other times a sort of mass-absolution for the mortal weaknesses that make him and his audience human. When you see JJ Grey and his band Mofro live—and you truly, absolutely must—the man is fearless.
Onstage, Grey delivers his songs with compassion and a relentless honesty, but perhaps not until Ol’ Glory has a studio record captured the fierceness and intimacy that defines a Grey live performance. “I wanted that crucial lived-in feel,” Grey says of Ol’ Glory, and here he hits his mark. On the new album, Grey and his current Mofro lineup offer grace and groove in equal measure, with an easygoing quality to the production that makes those beautiful muscular drum-breaks sound as though the band has set up in your living room.

Event Details
Hailing from Richmond, VA, Carbon Leaf has offered a unique blend of alt-country and Celtic-infused indie-rock since the 1990s. Their latest project, The Gathering series offers an invitation to come together and find commonality.
“The Gathering series is all about building community,” says Carbon Leaf frontman Barry Privett. “It’s a call to look inwards and find what matters, an invitation to reach out and embrace the gifts of human connection.”
That’s no mean feat given the deep divisions that have defined much of the past few years of American life, but Carbon Leaf has always punched above their weight, defying the odds at every turn and redefining what’s possible for a modern indie band in the process. The group’s extraordinary new mini-album, Gathering 2: The Hunting Ground, is no exception. Recorded at the band’s own studio in Richmond, VA, the collection marks the second installment of the group’s four-part Gathering series, which finds the long-running quintet stripping their sound back to its organic, acoustic core as they reckon with our ever-conflicting desires for unity and independence. The songs here are gutsy and probing, grappling with grief, loss, anger, and pain, and the arrangements are aggressive and insistent to match, fueled by layers of relentlessly strummed guitars, rolling banjo, and lush fiddle. The result is a moving, cathartic collection that’s unafraid to confront darkness and doubt head on, a poignant, revelatory record all about the power of self-reflection and the ties that bind.
“One of the big questions we found ourselves grappling with as a band was, ‘How do you actually make any kind of a difference in society today?’” says Privett. “And I don’t think you can do that without first looking inwards—to yourself, your family, your friends—and figuring out what your values truly are.”
Anyone who’s caught a Carbon Leaf show over the past three decades probably has a pretty good idea just what those values are: brotherhood, commitment, empathy, integrity, self-reliance. Founded at Randolph-Macon College in 1992, the group evolved from a houseparty cover band into something far more profound after graduation, when they moved to Richmond and made the shift to original music. The band’s first three albums helped build a devoted cult following, but it was 2001’s Echo Echo that truly brought Carbon Leaf to national attention, with lead single “The Boxer” earning the group a performance slot in front of millions of viewers at the American Music Awards. After nearly ten years of self-releasing and grinding it out on the road (both as headliners and as guests appearing on bills alongside the likes of Dave Matthews Band, O.A.R., Jason Mraz, Blues Traveler, and Guster, among others), the band signed with Vanguard Records in 2004 for their critical and commercial breakthrough, Indian Summer, which yielded a Top 5 hit at AAA radio and garnered rave reviews everywhere from The Washington Post to WXPN. While the band would go on to release two more similarly well-received albums with Vanguard, it soon became obvious to everyone that independence wasn’t simply an ideal for Carbon Leaf, but rather an integral part of their DNA, and so in 2010, the band parted ways with the label in order to return to their DIY roots and take complete and total control of their career. Acting as their own label, distributor, and manager, the band cut new versions of all three Vanguard albums in order to regain the rights to the recordings, launched their own festival, and began releasing a successful series of direct-to-fan concert films, livestreams, and studio records leading up to the first installment of the Gathering series in 2018.
“The initial idea for these Gathering albums was to get a bunch of our musical friends together in the studio for a weekend and make something really communal and collaborative,” explains Privett. “We had some of our pals from We Banjo 3 join in on Volume 1, but for the second installment we decided to strike out on our own because the songs just felt more personal and introspective.”
Though Carbon Leaf had traditionally embraced a wall of sound approach in the studio, this time around they went back to the basics, focusing on raw, acoustic arrangements that placed the storytelling front and center. With guitarist Terry Clark handling engineering duties, the band—Privett, Clark, stringed instrument wizard Carter Gravatt, bassist Jon Markel, and drummer Jesse Humphrey—captured performances on and off over the course of roughly six months, experimenting with a wide variety of instruments and mic placements to generate a series of immersive, transportive sonic landscapes.
“Space was a big thing for us when we were making these recordings,” says Clark. “Moving the microphones further away so we could really capture the room and the air helped add lot of the character and dimension these songs needed.”
While some of the tracks here began life as instrumental demos from Gravatt, others first took shape as a capella lyrical or melodic ideas from Privett. Regardless of where each tune began, though, the finished product would inevitably wind up bearing the unmistakable fingerprints of all five bandmates, whose infectious chemistry consistently yields more than the sum of its parts.
“We like to take a world-building approach in the studio,” says Privett. “We’ll stack things up and layer them on top of each other until we’ve got something that sounds way beyond just five guys in a room together.”
That alchemy is obvious from the outset on The Hunting Ground, which opens with the churning “Everything’s Alright Mama.” Mixing gritty Appalachian folk with lilting Celtic influences, the track begins with both feet on the ground and builds into a soaring work of bittersweet beauty, balancing the mundane and the magical in equal measure as it reaches out into the void for connection. Like much of the album, it’s a bright, uptempo tune, but dig beneath the surface and you’ll find an underlying sense of sadness that permeates the often-impressionistic lyrics. The driving “Her Father’s Pride,” for instance, grapples with division on both a personal and a communal scale, while the rollicking “Smokey Joe Of The Poconos” explores what happens to those left behind in the name of progress, and the mesmerizing “Pale Blue Dot” zooms out to contemplate our place and our purpose in the greater scheme of the universe. It’s perhaps the muscular title track, though, that best encapsulates the sense of questioning and longing that defines the collection, with Privett singing, “Is this all we have, the natural world? Is anyone around?”
“The idea of the hunting ground is that it’s this place where you’re searching for something out in the great wild unknown,” says Privett. ”How do you process grief? How do you fix your soul in the face of losing someone you care about? How do you carry on when life doesn’t go the way you’d planned?”
In the end, of course, there are no easy answers to these questions, and that’s precisely the point. The hunt is an endless one, but it doesn’t need to be lonely. We’re all in the search together, and after more than a year of distance and isolation, it’s hard to think of anything we need more than a good old fashioned gathering.

Event Details
Considering Everclear has written and recorded some truly iconic ’90s alt-rock hits, it would be all too easy these days for the band to be a victim of its past successes, relegated to performing as a glorified jukebox, existing to satisfy the nostalgic cravings of Gen Xers everywhere. But singer-guitarist Art Alexakis isn’t about to start phoning it in now.
Although the band hasn’t released a new studio album since 2015’s triumphant Black Is The New Black, Everclear continues to tour actively. And while it’s a virtual surety that no Everclear gig is complete without a rendition of “Santa Monica” and “Father of Mine,” lately the band has found that exploring the full range of past material—especially the “deep cuts”—not only gives fans a rare treat, it also injects new life into the band’s live dynamic.
“By mixing it up and digging into the catalogue, it still makes it fun and relevant for us, and I think for the fans as well,” says Alexakis. “It’s still important to play the hits, but by playing those other songs as well, it makes it all seem more vibrant and real. Even though I recorded some of those songs 20 years ago, I haven’t played them in a long time, so it’s like reinventing the wheel. I’m having more fun now than I have in years. I think all of us are.”
“In the past, we’d make a record and then everybody would go their separate ways for a while,” says Fastball’s Miles Zuniga. “But now, we’re feeling so excited about the music that it’s ‘How soon can we make another record?’ We’re feeling a sense of urgency about the music that’s really refreshing.”
Fastball’s new album The Help Machine follows on the heels of the band’s acclaimed 2017 release Step Into Light. The new set, on the Austin, Texas trio’s own 33 1/3 label, once again demonstrates the distinctive songwriting, expressive vocals and inventive melodic sensibilities of Zuniga and his bandmate Tony Scalzo. With drummer Joey Shuffield completing the longstanding lineup, the trio’s time-tested creative rapport is as potent as ever on such compelling tunes as Scalzo’s “White Collar,” “All Gone Fuzzy” and “The Girl You Pretended to Be,” and the Zuniga compositions “Friend or Foe,” “Holding the Devil’s Hand” and the album’s enigmatic title track.
Aggressively entering the rock scene with unquenchable passion, pulsing energy and an electric sound, The Nixons presence in the music industry was unwavering. They were quickly recognized and made their mark on groves of dedicated fans for their legendary live performances. Comprised of Singer, Zac Maloy, Guitarist, Jesse Davis, bassist, Ricky Brooks and drummer, John Humphrey, The Nixons were discovered and eagerly signed with major label, MCA/Universal in 1995. The band did not disappoint with 3 hit songs, “Sister”, “Happy Song” and “Wire” upon the release of their first record, Foma. “Sister” exploded and quickly became a phenomenon in the Midwest. With momentum on high, “Sister” secured the spotlight with a top five radio hit and crossed over into the Hot 100 pop billboard songs. The Nixons were unstoppable, touring worldwide and lighting up the stage over 3000 times in nearly a decade. Their rise to fame set them on the same stage with rock and roll icons such as The Melvins, KISS, Soul Asylum, Radiohead and The Toadies. Soon after, The Nixons released two more albums with MCA that delivered dedicated fans with rock radio hits, “Baton Rouge” and “The Fall.”

Event Details
Michael Franti is a globally recognized musician, humanitarian, activist, and award-winning filmmaker revered for his high-energy live shows, inspiring music, devotion to health and wellness, worldwide philanthropic efforts and the power of optimism. Throughout his multi-decade career, Franti has earned three Billboard No. 1’s with triumphantly hopeful hits “Sound of Sunshine,” “Say Hey (I Love You)” and “I Got You,” as well as six Top 30 Hot AC singles, nine Top 25 AAA Singles and three Billboard Top 5 Rock Albums. “I Got You,” lead single from his latest album Work Hard And Be Nice, marked Franti’s first No. 1 in nearly 10 years and landed on NPR’s “Most Popular Songs of 2020,” while the music video boasts over 1.3 million views since its release. Michael Franti & Spearhead’s latest single “Good Day For A Good Day” is available everywhere, with plans to release his 12th studio album in the Summer of 2022.
Michael Franti & Spearhead embarked on the inaugural five-day Soulshine at Sea cruise Nov. 3-7, 2021 sailing from Miami, Fla. to Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. Soulshine At Sea included two Michael Franti & Spearhead shows, over 20 live band and DJ sets, 10+ yoga and fitness classes, inspiring speakers, live “Stay Human” podcast tapings, and uniquely curated activities hosted by Michael himself and other special guests. Guests also had access to healthy menu options including vegan offerings around the clock, an on-board juice bar, cooking demos and more. Soulshine At Sea is returning for Year 2, Nov. 4-8, 2023 setting sail from Miami to Costa Maya, Mexico!
With sustainability and the environment top of mind, in 2021 Franti announced a pledge to join partner REVERB’s Music Climate Revolution, to offset the carbon footprint of all their tours moving forward. This began on the road in Colorado with Franti & Spearhead’s Good Day For A Good Day Weekend from June 4-6th, including one show in Vail, CO followed by three shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater. To keep the good times rolling, Spearhead’s Good Day For A Good Day Tour, kicked off August 2021 and included 20 summer shows in the U.S with co-headline dates from Trombone Shorty, The Revivalists, and Young The Giant plus several sold-out shows and support from Of Good Nature. Alongside the release of his new album, the band will be going on a coast-to-coast tour through the Spring and Summer of 2022, followed by 13 EU/UK shows at the top of 2023. Tickets are on sale now at MichaelFranti.com.
In January 2019, Franti released his self-directed documentary Stay Human, which won an array of awards at film festivals worldwide and influenced his writing for his album Stay Human Vol. II (Thirty Tigers), which debuted at No. 1 on both the Americana and Independent Album charts and received critical acclaim from USA Today, Billboard, Associated Press and Paste. Influenced by the film, Franti’s Stay Human podcast presented by Gibson features creatives from all walks of life, with new episodes available each week.
Franti continues to foster community both on and off stage with a wish granting non-profit, Do It For The Love, founded by Franti and his wife, Sara. Do It For The Love brings those with life threatening illnesses, veterans, and children with severe challenges to concerts worldwide, fulfilling over 3,300 wishes and touching the lives of over 12,000 people. Franti also owns Soulshine Bali, a 32-room yoga retreat hotel in Ubud, Bali. Phase 2 of the hotel, including 16 new suites, a new restaurant, 90 mat yoga studio, infinity pool, spa, gym, opens in 2022!

Fusing elements of rock, pop, funk, and improvisation, Big Something takes listeners on a journey through a myriad of musical styles. It’s no secret why this group has quickly become one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the Southeast. Huge rhythms paired with soaring guitars, E.W.I (electronic wind instrument), synths, horns and alluring vocal hooks rise to the top of their infectious collection of songs and represent a sound that has landed the band marquee appearances at Bonnaroo, Peach Music Festival, Lock’n, Summer Camp and Electric Forest as well as critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, Guitar World, Glide Magazine and Jambase.
With 5 full-length studio albums produced by Grammy-nominee John Custer, and even their own Summer music festival The Big What?, the band has carved out their own niche in the live music community and continues to grow nationally with sold out headlining performances throughout the United States. This year the band will release their highly anticipated 6th full-length studio album ‘Escape’ to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Featured on Live For Live Music, the first three singles Heavy, The Breakers and Timebomb are all available on streaming platforms world-wide.
Big Something is:
Nick MacDaniels – Guitar, Lead Vocals
Casey Cranford – Sax, EWI
Jesse Hensley – Lead Guitar, Vocals
Josh Kagel – Keys, Trumpet
Doug Marshall – Bass
Ben Vinograd – Drums

This top-notch group of musicians has already rocked onstage with John Oates, Eddie Money (RIP), and both versions of the band Player. They’ve trademarked the term “yacht rock,” both metaphorically and literally (U.S. Registration Number 3834195). From humble beginnings in a basement, touring in partnership with Live Nation and Sirius XM, they now headline sold-out shows across the country, from Webster Hall in New York to the Wiltern in L.A. While rising from bars to amphitheaters, they’ve ticked every box on the Rock Star Accomplishments bingo card. Except for one: Writing and singing their own songs.
Yacht Rock Revue’s first original record is ten songs inspired by the smoooooth sounds of the Seventies and Eighties. They’ve brazenly titled it Hot Dads In Tight Jeans – forgive them for bragging, but that’s what they are – and it returns Yacht Rock Revue to their roots in original music.

THE YEAR WAS 1969…
And these ‘kids’ had the nerve to carry the name WAR at a time when peace was the slogan in an anti-Vietnam America. “Our mission was to spread a message of brotherhood and harmony”. Original Band Members included; Lonnie Jordan/singer/keyboardist, Howard Scott/guitars/ vocal, Lee Oskar/harmonica, B.B. Dickerson/bass vocals, Harold Brown/drums/ vocals, the late Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen/congas/timbales, and Charles Miller /saxophonist/flutist.
“Our instruments and voices became our weapons of choice and the songs our ammunition. We spoke out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, as we embraced all people with hope and the spirit of brotherhood. It’s just as apropos today” WAR, the original street band, was brought together by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein (“My Boyfriend’s Back”, “Hang On Sloopy”, “I Want Candy”) and rock legend Eric Burdon (ex-lead singer of the top British band The Animals). “I first saw some of the guys who would eventually become WAR playing at a topless beer bar in the San Fernando Valley, backing Deacon Jones, the pro football player, and knew immediately how potent these kids were,” states Goldstein. “I was friends with Eric and he was ready to throw in the towel on the music scene and return to Newcastle. He was tired of the ‘rock’ thing and desperate for a fresh authentic sound. I called him the morning after I first saw the band and made him return to the club the next night with me. Eric was so blown away by what he had heard that he jumped on stage to jam with them. The guys weren’t familiar with Eric or The Animals. I had them in the studio within a week, and the rest is history!”

Event Details
Blurring the lines between Country and hip-hop music, Blanco Brown makes a southern sound that he proudly calls “TrailerTrap.” It’s a boundary-breaking, multicolored genre of his very own — which draws upon the rawness and storytelling abilities of his two biggest musical influences, Johnny Cash and Outkast.
Years before he rose up the ranks as a Grammy-nominated engineer and major-label solo artist with a No.1 record, who’s song inspired the creation of a main character of one of Netflix’s top trending shows (Georgia of Ginny & Georgia)—Blanco grew up in two very different worlds, both in the state of Georgia, splitting his time between the city projects and the rural countryside.
During the school year, he’d spend his months in Atlanta, where the crime that filled his neighborhood was offset by the love and musical connection shared by his family. Every summer, he’d head out of town temporarily moving in with relatives in the small rural town of Butler, GA.
During those summers in Butler, the soundtrack that had filled his days back home in Atlanta — the R&B harmonies he’d sing with his brothers; the rap he’d hear blasting from the cassette players in passing cars; the gospel music he’d howl every Sunday morning in church — gave way to the laidback, rootsy sounds of Johnny Cash songs and Bobby Blue Bland records. It was there, far away from city life, that Blanco became a fan of Country music. As each summer drew to an end, though, he’d head back to the city, leaving behind the twangy sounds of Butler and returning once again to the projects of Atlanta.
Those two worlds come together to create a hybrid sound he affectionately calls “TrailerTrap.” The world got its first taste of this exciting fusion with the worldwide PLATINUM certified hit (3X US, 4X Canada, 4X Australia) “The Git Up.” Originally shared via SoundCloud, along with a social video of Blanco performing the dance, the viral track quickly claimed the top spot in charts across the globe and spawned nearly 3 billion views across social platforms with millions of users across the globe eagerly sharing their own videos of the dance. Spurring more than 650 million digital streams in the US alone (765 million international), a myriad of press coverage (including TIME Magazine, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, NPR, Genius,, Complex, etc.), airplay and televised performances “The Git Up” has indeed primed Blanco Brown to be “the next trap country sensation” (Billboard). Billboard was correct—“The Git Up” made its way to the top of the viral Spotify charts in several countries, hung tight as the top most-selling Country song in the US for 13 weeks and claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 12 weeks and catapulted Blanco to become one of Billboard’s “7 Country Acts to Watch in 2019.”
