GUSTER
with Mikaela Davis

Not long before the making of their new album Ooh La La, Guster celebrated three decades together as a band — a journey that’s included landing a series of hits on the Billboard charts, working with luminaries like Steve Lillywhite and Richard Swift, launching their own music festival, and amassing an ardent fanbase partly on the strength of their relentless touring and deeply communal live show. But despite reaching a milestone few musical acts ever come close to attaining, Guster’s ninth studio LP reveals a band fully in touch with the voracious creative energy that first inspired their formation. A major leap forward for lead vocalist Ryan Miller, guitarist Adam Gardner, drummer Brian Rosenworcel, and multi-instrumentalist Luke Reynolds, Ooh La La ultimately matches that wide-eyed spirit with a newly heightened sense of confidence, conviction, and commitment to the raw sincerity that’s made them so beloved.
Ooh La La endlessly radiates an undeniable warmth, even as its songs delve into the more daunting aspects of living in modern times. “One of Josh’s great strengths is finding the heart of the song, which felt right for the world we live in,” says Rosenworcel. “When I listen back to the album now it feels like there’s depth everywhere — there’s not a moment where we strike a chord that isn’t meaningful to us. Nobody was going to accept a song that didn’t hit at a certain level, and it feels good to still have that passion more than 30 years into our career.”
“One thing we’ve continually done as a band is acknowledge what’s going on in our world but still bring some positivity to the music,” says Gardner. “We’re always going to be real about what’s happening, but we still want to leave people with a feeling of hope.”
While their audience has grown exponentially since Guster got their start playing in dorm rooms at Tufts University in 1991, they’ve sustained an extraordinarily strong connection with their fanbase over the years. “One of the main reasons we’re still a band is the fans who’ve come to see us for years, the people who show us the tattoos they’ve gotten with our lyrics,” Miller adds. “It inspires us to stay creative and stay fearless, instead of just making the same record over and over. Everything we do is in service of that connection, and at this point I’d say we’re definitely lifers.”

IAM TONGI
with Cultivated Mind

Iam Tongi
Iam Tongi is the winner of season 21 of American Idol. He had America tearing up from the moment he started singing, “Monster” by James Blunt. An emotional tribute to his father who’d encouraged him to audition for American Idol but passed away before he made it in front of the judges, the performance instantly became a viral sensation. The quiet yet powerful maturity in this 18-year-old Samoan, Tongan from Hawaii’s voice, is unparalleled. An old soul, his beautiful rasp, with a light island influence permeates every note in every song he sings, invariably taking listeners on an emotional journey.
Although Iam himself is rarely serious, preferring to approach life with a laugh and a joke, his musical taste and styling shows a depth of range far beyond his years. In his current single, “I’ll Be Seeing You”, Iam gorgeously laments about the loss of his father. His formidable vocal ability brings a yearning to those moments when, although you’ve lost someone, you realize they are never truly gone; you see them everywhere you look. Iam said, “This song is very beautiful, and it resonates with me, it means a lot to me. It is about my father and if you think about it, this song talks about ‘I’ll be seeing you wherever I go’ because when a loved one passes away you are going to remember them in everyday life”.

ST. PAUL & THE BROKEN BONES
with Big Forest Fire

St. Paul & The Broken Bones
Founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 2011, St. Paul & the Broken Bones consists of Paul Janeway (vocals), Jesse Phillips (bass), Browan Lollar (guitar), Kevin Leon (drums), Al Gamble (keyboards), Allen Branstetter (trumpet), Chad Fisher (trombone), and Amari Ansari (saxophone). The eight-piece ensemble burst into the world with their 2014 debut Half the City, establishing a sound that quickly became a calling card and landing the band a slew of major festivals including Lollapalooza, Coachella and Glastonbury. Critical praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, SPIN and NPR followed, leading to shared stages with some of the world’s biggest artists, Elton John and The Rolling Stones among them.
The group has continued to expand their sound with every record, branching out well beyond old-school soul into sleek summertime funk and classic disco on albums like 2018’s Young Sick Camellia. Their forthcoming LP, Angels In Science Fiction, stretches their limbs further afield, building on the shadowy psychedelia and intricate, experimental R&B of 2022’s The Alien Coast.

BURNING SPEAR
with Kabaka Pyramid

Burning Spear’s impact on reggae music is profound. A true legend, Spear’s legacy through his music is one of self-reliance and self-determination for the African diaspora. With a career spanning over six decades, his message remains on point and his vocal delivery is as powerful as it is identifiable.
Winston Rodney began his music career in the late 1960s, attributing his start to a fateful encounter with Bob Marley. Both were living in the St. Ann’s parish of Jamaica. As Spear recalls, “Bob was going to his farm. The man was moving with a donkey and some buckets and a fork, and cutlass and plants. We just reason man-to-man and I say wherein I would like to get involved in the music business. And Bob say, ‘All right, just check Studio One.” It was there that Spear recorded his first two classic albums, Burning Spear and Rocking Time.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Burning Spear rocked the reggae world, releasing acclaimed albums such as Social Living, Hail H.I.M. and Resistance. His music evolved to incorporate elements of jazz, funk, and rock, while maintaining its solid roots reggae foundation.
Burning Spear has won two Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album. In addition to his music career, Burning Spear is a dedicated anti-racism activist and philanthropist. He has been involved in various social and political causes throughout his career, including the fight against apartheid in South Africa, the struggle for independence in Zimbabwe and his campaign to raise awareness of the teachings of Marcus Garvey.
Kabaka Pyramid

Kabaka Pyramid is a Grammy Award Winning conscious revolutionary lyricist with a signature musical style; blending the power, energy and melody of Reggae with the lyricism of Hip hop.
A key pillar of the Reggae Revival movement, Kabaka Pyramid carved his way into the Jamaican reggae scene with Rebel Music in 2011 with marquee songs like “Free From Chains” and “Warrior” featuring Protoje. His hip hop roots were evident in the lyrical style and hard-hitting beats, laying the foundation for an ever-ascending career highlighted by the classic marquee sophomore album The Kalling produced by role model Damian “Jr Gong” Marley.
This chart-topping artist has developed a solid global fan-base that connects deeply with the messages in his music, touring extensively over the past 10 years at the largest of Reggae stages around the world and headlining numerous 20+ multi-city club tours. Kabaka is well known for delivering an electrifying and entertaining live performance.
After touring with Damian Marley in the US in 2017, Kabaka would team up with the son of Bob Marley for his debut album Kontraband, debuting number 3 in the reggae Billboard chart and number one in several countries on iTunes. Hit song “Reggae Music” became Kabaka’s first song to pass 10 million views on YouTube.
Live performances for Rolling Stones, BBC radio 1xtra at Maida Vale and Tuff Gong Studios, winning the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association’s Breakthrough artist of the year and being featured on Chase and Status and Rudimental’s albums are some of the highlights of a stellar career.

JEFFERSON STARSHIP
with Optimistic Cynics

Jefferson Starship
When founding member Paul Kantner formed Jefferson Starship in the ’70s, he envisioned the band as a cast of musical adventurers, contributing to his epic concept albums and eventual deep catalog of rock classics. When the current lineup of the band came together alongside Kantner as a unit in 2012, with many members joining years before, he couldn’t have imagined that the band would become the road-conquering heroes they’ve been in the last few years.
Jefferson Starship’s five members describe themselves as both a “family” and a “gang,” and that comes across in talking to them, and in their robust live performances, which have taken them to all 50 U.S. states., five continents, and too many countries to list here (a recent tour of New Zealand was mentioned among the band’s favorites), drawing from a massive setlist of hit after hit.
In addition to original member David Freiberg, the band includes drummer Donny Baldwin (whose Jefferson Starship roots go back to 1982), keyboardist Chris Smith (who joined in 1998), guitarist Jude Gold (who joined in 2012), and singer and guitarist Cathy Richardson who joined in 2008, after Kantner saw her tour with Big Brother and the Holding Company.
As Jefferson Starship approaches their 50th anniversary, the group’s members look to the future with the word Kantner, who unfortunately died in 2016, used to say to them all the time: “Onward.”
